Blomidon Inn

Yesterday I shared my outfit photos from our time at the Blomidon Inn but I didn't really show much of their lovely gardens.  The weather was a bit grey and cool but it was nice to explore and get some fresh air all the same.

Garden Party

I'm away at a conference this week and it's been messing with my sleep habits as well as my blogging.  I'm looking forward to heading home tomorrow to use my own shower and sleep in my own bed.  We're staying on campus for this conference and residence living is making me feel very old and achy. It's actually the campus where I did my undergrad and I'd forgotten how hard the water is here.  I had to change shampoos when I was a student... wishing I'd remembered that in time to pack accordingly! Hair not happy this week.

Anyway, this weekend we celebrated my Dad's birthday by going out for a very nice meal at a local inn.  Husband and I took a few photos around the gardens before we ate. I figured since I missed What I Wore Wednesday I'd share them on Thursday instead (it is Thursday right?).

Casual Colour

It's been awhile since I did a Casual Friday outfit post and I had some adorable new loafers to show off.  These are the loafers I "won" in the silent auction at A Day in Her Shoes and they come from Manchester Shoe Salon.  They had another colour combo with red and it was hard to choose between the two.

Anyway, this is what I wore to take Trilly to the vet on Wednesday.  Which means it was covered in fur by the time I got home.  Little thing stresses out pretty badly at the vet but is very good when being examined, given her shots, etc.

Earlier this week I shared our little bathroom facelift using the faux adhesive tiles.  Compared the the kitchen the bathroom was a breeze.  I say this as an observer because Husband had a system for ensuring the tile pieces lined up properly in the kitchen and I was not to interfere with said system.

So here is a couple of photos taken of our kitchen quite awhile ago but very little had changed since then.

And here's what it looks like with the new tiling.

Looking forward to the walls being easier to wipe clean as well as prettier now that the tiles are up!

Summer Bag

Mum and I went to an event last week called A Day in Her Shoes in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association.  It's put on in a shopping area uptown called Market Square.  The shops get together and put on a fashion show. The spa does hair and make up and the restaurants supply treats and drinks.  It's a well attended event which meant it was a challenge to get to those treats this year.  However, I "won" an adorable pair of loafers (future blog post) in the silent auction.  The stores also have great deals on post-event.

Mum and I decided it was time to spring (pun intended) for some bright, new season handbags and wallets from Manchester Shoe Salon.  I'll be stealing hers at some point for an outfit I'm sure but today I'm showing off my oh-so-spring-summer fossil bag and Christopher Kon wallet.

The lining has this adorable bird pattern
They were meant for each other

This red/coral wallet is the exact same as my winter one except for the colour. That's because it's the best wallet ever.

Room for absolutely everything!
Always fun, but dangerous to visit our friends at Manchester Shoe Salon!

Mirror Makeover

We've been working on various parts of the house after three years of living here.  When we moved into our home it was new build which meant we didn't even have towel rails or anything to put the toilet paper on.  So at that point we were concerned about the fundamentals.  As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago we only just got furniture for our upstairs living area... which the cats are thrilled about. I'm fairly certain they think it's all cat bed.

Another area we decided to give a small but effective face lift was our upstairs bathroom.  No idea why but the plaster underneath the mirror started pitting which wasn't cool.  I didn't take immediate "before photos" but here's our bathroom as we were sorting things out when we moved in.

We decided it would be fun to use these adhesive faux tiles we'd seen to cover the pitting and add some interest.

We discovered the tiles were very reasonably priced online and required no grouting or special tools to speak of.  They may not last a lifetime but I figure that just gives me an excuse to get a new bathroom face lift in a few years.

Mother's Day

I wore my cute new black and white polka dot dress for Mother's Day with teal tights.  Needed a bit of colour since it was the greyest, rainiest day imaginable.  One of my Mum's favourite things to do for Mother's Day is go to brunch after church at Shadow Lawn Inn (where I had my Canadian wedding reception).  Since my brothers were out of the country it was just the four of us but that meant more insanely good chocolate cream stuff for me.

I didn't take proper outfit photos with the weather but here's Mum and I at Shadow Lawn.
